ChatGPT Now Offers a ‘Lightweight’ Version of Deep Research to All Users
A lightweight version of deep research, powered by the recently released reasoning model o4-mini, is now available to all ChatGPT users. According to a series of posts on X, OpenAI reported, “Responses will typically be shorter while maintaining the depth and quality you’ve come to expect.” Paid users of ChatGPT also have increased usage limits for the standard version of deep research (for instance, ChatGPT Plus users can now use the tool 25 times per month instead of 10). “Once limits for the original version of deep research are reached, queries automatically default to the lightweight version.”
ChatGPT goes shopping with new product-browsing feature
ChatGPT Search now comes equipped with a new shopping feature that “allows users to search for products and purchase them through merchant websites after being redirected from the ChatGPT interface.” The tool also includes product reviews that are aggregated from various online sources.
OpenAI just gave ChatGPT Plus a massive boost with generous new usage limits
Pay $20 per month for ChatGPT Plus? If so, then you can spend more time with your favorite reasoning models, to the tune of 100 messages per week with o3, 300 messages per day with o4-mini, and 100 messages per day o4-mini-high (for more coding intensive tasks).
Google adds more AI tools to its Workspace productivity apps
Several new AI-powered features have been added to Google Workspace, including audio overviews, which can provide audio files that summarize uploaded documents (similar to Google’s NotebookLM), a tool called Canvas that allows users to create drafts and write code with Gemini (eerily similar to ChatGPT’s Canvas tool), and AI-powered enhancements for creating and tracking meetings with Google calendar.

These improvements offer enhanced prompt adherence, improved dynamic quality, and better visual aesthetics, resulting in more cinematic and accurate AI-generated videos. Kling AI 2.0 also introduced multimodal features that allow users to add, swap, or delete elements in videos using natural language, as well as inpainting and outpainting. You can test out the new model for free.
