That’s a wrap on our first Gen AI class at Drake

Grades are in, and we have officially wrapped up Drake University’s first-ever generative AI class.

We started the semester introducing the students to generative AI tools for text, images, audio and video. We discussed legal and ethical concerns along the way. Then we set them free to combine tools and see what they could create.

We wrapped up the class by teaching our 9-step process for implementing generative AI at work. Finally we had them think through how they will succeed in a world where generative AI can do most of our jobs.

What they made

If there was one thing we wanted students to leave this class with, it was the idea that their knowledge PLUS generative AI could lead them to doing things they never thought possible before.

For some of them that meant coding an interactive game. For others it meant combining music, video and voiceovers into a story. Here are some projects that stood out from the semester:
