I tried a $50 wearable AI device
Would you pay $50 for a wearable AI device that listens to your conversations, recaps your daily activities, creates reminders of things you need to do and overall tries to learn more about you and your life.
That's Bee, the wearable device from Bee Computer. It's a watch-sized device that you can wear on your wrist. It listens to your conversations throughout the day (unless you press mute) and acts like a slightly underqualified personal assistant.
You can even interact with its memories of you in a CustomGPT-like interface (which is probably one of the more valuable features).
The promise here is great. The idea of having AI with us at all times to act as a second brain is worth every bit of $50.
I wore a Bee for the past two weeks, giving it access to my Google calendar (it can also connect to Gmail, but I declined), my location and my conversations.
It gave me daily recaps like this one (the martial arts competition must have been something one of my kids was watching on YouTube).
And it gave me suggested To Do items like these:
Overall this tech is exciting but still early.
It knows my voice but not other people I interact with. It confuses podcasts and TV shows for real conversations. Sometimes you just feel like you are violating peoples' privacy by wearing it.
But I believe we will all be wearing AI devices in the near future. If I could talk directly to the device (which I sort of can now), I would have less need for my phone.
The ability to ask questions of what it knows about me has unlimited potential.
Is Bee a must-own device? If you are looking for a perfect AI companion, then this one is not there yet. But if you are willing to come along on the ride as this area develops, then buy one today.
