Your weekly guide to generative AI tools and news
Join us for Fall Cornucop-AI
We’re excited to host Fall Cornucop-AI, a free lunch-and-learn on Sept. 16 to discuss what’s new in the world of generative artificial intelligence. Topics will include Anthropic's Artifacts, recent LLM updates including new custom options, AI in social media, and new developments in AI photos, videos and audio. Sign up here.
Generative AI News
Claude AI just got a major ChatGPT-beating upgrade – here’s how to use Artifacts
Just last week Anthropic released a new tool for users of Claude.ai, available to both free and paid users, namely, Artifacts, which allows users to create “substantial, standalone content” that can be built and modified in real time. Examples of Artifacts from Anthropic’s announcement of the tool include:
Developers can make architecture diagrams from codebases
Product managers can create interactive prototypes for rapid feature testing
Designers can build powerful visualizations for quick prototyping
Marketers can design campaign dashboards with performance metrics
Sales teams can visualize sales pipelines with forecasting insights
For the moment, there is no comparable tool available from Anthropic’s competitors (we’re looking at you, OpenAI), but given how new developments with one platform are quickly picked up by rival platforms, we anticipate the situation to change rather soon.
Google’s Gemini AI gets major upgrade with ‘Gems’ assistants and Imagen 3
Speaking of a new development from one platform being picked up by rival platforms, you may be aware that OpenAI’s custom GPTs have found their counterpart in Microsoft 365 Copilot’s custom copilots. Now we have Google Gemini’s custom Gems (frankly, a terrible name), which allow paid users of Google Gemini to create their own custom AI agents to carry out specific tasks. In addition, all Gemini users now have access to Imagen 3, Google’s last AI image generation model, complete with restrictions on human image generation (to avoid the problems that plagued Imagen 2) as well as a new watermarking feature to purportedly prevent the generation of deepfakes.
Amazon's Remarkable Alexa will reportedly run on Claude AI and cost $5-10 per month
Have you noticed that Amazon’s Alexa is just not very smart in conversation? That will soon change, at least if you’re willing to shell out a bit of cash, as a new LLM-powered version of Alexa, called “Remarkable Alexa,” is coming in October. The LLM powering Remarkable Alexa will be Anthropic’s Claude, which is unsurprising given that Amazon has already invested billions of dollars in Anthropic. Given a possible $10 monthly charge, we may just stick with Unremarkable Alexa for the time being…
MrBeast testing new AI to generate YouTube video ideas
MrBeast has created a ton of content; currently, his YouTube channel features over 800 videos. Where does he get ideas for new videos? Maybe from AI. Just yesterday we learned about Spotter Studio, a tool that “is trained on a creator’s existing content to produce ideas that match their style, tone, and other motifs.” According to the Spotter web site, “After hundreds of conversations with the world’s top creators and experts, we learned they simply needed better options, built with them in mind. So, we started building a creative suite of tools with unique data, insights and AI models personalized to creators and their channels.” Perhaps MrBeast’s next video will feature a $1,000,000 prize to anyone who can subsist indefinitely on a diet of rocks and glue-covered pizza.

Tool of the week: Synthesia
Need to make a talking head video, but don’t have a talking head who wants to be on camera? Synthesia is an AI tool that uses AI avatars to create videos tutorials and explainer videos.
You can choose from more than 200 avatars or create your own digital twin.
AI-generated image of the week
We were testing out image ideas for our upcoming free AI event. Here’s an example of what was made using Midjourney. We ended up going with a DALL-E image for the actual event (with some editing in Canva).
prompt: A logo that includes a cornucopia and the words "Cornucop-AI"
